Goldbacks: voluntary gold-backed notes with artwork unique to each state and denomination.

What Are Goldbacks?

Goldbacks are beautifully designed notes that contain real 24-karat gold layered inside a protective polymer. Each note is denominated by the fraction of a troy ounce it contains (for example, a 1 Goldback contains 1/1000 troy ounce of gold). They blend collectability with tangible gold ownership.

How They’re Made

  • Pure gold layer: a precisely measured 24K gold film is deposited for each denomination.
  • Protected for durability: the gold is sealed between clear polymer layers so the artwork and metal are preserved.
  • State artwork: each series features allegorical figures and local symbolism unique to that state.
